Before opening an account, there are two types available namely personal and business. Personal/Premium allows you to be paid, send and receive money. Business account allows you to set up payment options for your website which allows you to receive payment for goods bought as well as make mass payments.
Below is how to register for a new PayPal account.
Step One – Browse to PayPal.com
In order to register, you need to open your browser, type ‘PayPal’ on the address bar or search using one the search engines. Once the page opens, click on sign up and you will be directed to the registration form. Call the PayPal contact number if you are concerned that you may not be on the official website. A customer service agent can point you in the right direction.
You can choose personal or business account. The personal account is free but the business account has two options. One is free while the other, you will have to pay a certain amount ($30) every month. Remember, when opening a PayPal account, you need to use your real IP address. Do not use a Proxy or VPN service as this could lead to the closure of your account. You will end up losing money in the process.
Step Two – Fill in your details.
When you click on the sign up button, you will be directed to a page with a form. The page will require you to fill in your email address, your password as well as confirming the password you have inputted. Once you have confirmed everything is okay, you can click on the submit button.
When selecting a password for your PayPal account, you need to use alphanumeric. Remember, your account will handle your virtual money and to prevent unauthorized users from gaining access, you need to have a strong password.
Step Three – Create your profile.
In the next form, you need to fill in your details. Input your legal name (first and last name), street address, city, state, ZIP code and mobile. Once you have done so, you can check the box which allows you to agree with PayPal terms and conditions plus policies. It is important to take your time to read through the documents as they will allow you to understand what you can do and what you cannot do. If you have questions, PayPal contact is highly recommended.
Step Four – Add your credit card or bank account.
When you open a PayPal account, your sending and receiving abilities will be limited to a certain amount. In order to lift the limit, you need to verify your account. This requires you to input your credit card number. You can also link your bank account but this is for US residents only. The service accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover card. Fill in your billing address before submitting. Remember, the details you add must be the same when you applied for your bank account or credit card.
Step Five – Apply and verify your account.
Click on the apply button to submit your application. You need to open your email in order to verify your account by clicking on the “Activate My Account” button. If everything is done correctly, you should be able to log into your account. If not, contact PayPal customer service and request assistance.
