Choosing Between the Four Types of PayPal Accounts

Not all PayPal customers use the service for the exact same purposes. While some may use the service primarily to pay for purchases, others may use it to collect payments. There are also some who only use their account to send payments to family or friends. PayPal understands this, and offers four different account types so that customers can choose the type that is best for them.

If you are opening an account for the very first time and need help with choosing between them, call the PayPal contact number and speak with an agent. This may be especially important if you plan on using the service for business purposes. Today, businesses large and small are accepting PayPal as a payment method on their website. Via new card readers, some are now able to accept PayPal payments in local stores as well.

Personal Account – This type of account is best for those who will typically use the service to pay for purchases and to send money to friends and family. A personal account is suitable for paying for eBay purchases or purchases made with online merchants who accept this payment method.

Premier Account – This type of account is for those who not own a full-time business, but do want to be able to accept PayPal payment for items they sell (such as eBay items). Those with a Premier account can accept credit and debit card payments. They can also apply for the PayPal branded debit MasterCard for easy access to their funds.

Business Account – As the name states, this account is for business owners. Users have the choice of having the account in their name or their business name. Lower fees on incoming payments are offered with a business account. There are various extra products offered to account holders, and the account owner can allow employee access to the account if they wish.

Student Account – This account is for those who are at least 13 years of age. Adults can create up to four student accounts that are linked to their primary PayPal account. PayPal contact is recommended if you for some reason need additional accounts. Student accounts can be used to help teens manage funds, while being able to monitor all completed transactions.

Regardless of the type of account, the general fees that are charged remain the same. There is never any cost to use the service to pay for purchases, provided that the funds come from your account or a bank account that is linked to your PayPal account. Fees do apply when credit or debit cards are used to make payments. For a complete list of the fees that come with using the service, contact PayPal customer service and speak with an agent.
